Forming Minds. Guiding Souls. Preparing Leaders.

The intellectual formation of the young should be such that they learn to judge rightly, to act rightly, and to order their lives properly.

-Gravissimum Educationis, 1; Vatican II Declaration on Christian Education

At Subiaco Academy, academics challenge students to grow intellectually, spiritually, and personally. As a Catholic boarding and day school for boys in grades 7 through 12, Subiaco offers a rigorous college preparatory curriculum that combines classical Humanities education with innovative STEM learning.

Students develop strong skills in writing, reasoning, problem solving, and leadership. Guided by the Benedictine tradition of faith, discipline, and service, the academic program prepares young men for success in college and for lives of purpose beyond graduation.

Subiaco Academy has educated young men since 1887 and continues to provide one of the most distinctive Catholic high school academic programs in Arkansas.

Humanities and STEM Working Together

Subiaco Academy integrates two complementary areas of study that prepare students for both higher education and real world leadership. The Humanities program emphasizes intellectual formation through the study of:

  • literature and classical texts
  • philosophy and theology
  • history and culture
  • languages including Latin and Greek
  • fine arts and performing arts

Students learn to read closely, write clearly, and evaluate ideas thoughtfully, encouraging students to pursue truth, wisdom, and strong moral judgment.

Leadership Lab: Building for the Future with Integrity

Our STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) anchored in the STEPS philosophy (Scholars Thinking, Engaging, and Problem-Solving) equips students with real-world experience to innovate with compassion and act with purpose.

Our students are taught not just to build solutions—but to serve others with what they build.

The future of STEM at Subiaco includes:

Animal Science I & II, Agricultural Science, and Energy Systems (Phase I & II)

Geospatial technology, healthcare partnerships, robotics, and automation (Phases II & III)

Industry-recognized certifications and partnerships with higher education institutions

PATHS: A Capstone for Formation

In senior year, students undertake the P.A.T.H.S. Project—a Benedictine capstone integrating:

  • Prayer: Purposeful reflection on meaning and direction
  • Awareness: Mindfulness of self and others
  • Teamwork: Collaboration rooted in “Ora et Labora”
  • Humility: Lifelong learning with open-heartedness
  • Service: Real-world impact inspired by Christ’s example

Each project is student-led and publicly presented, embodying our belief that learning should lead to action.
